We are Arno and Carola, the dutch owners of Albergue Juntos. When we were walking the Camino Francés, we were inspired by the nice atmosphere. We loved the vibe of making new friends from all over the world and all the initiatives along the Way. Still now do we remember this nice oasis with hammocks and donativo drinks we came across.
However there were also some things that we missed. First, we really missed vegetables (other than the usual mixed salad) and soups. Also we hardly found pancakes, which make a great lunch and keep you going for many kilometers more. And finally we missed vegetarian and vegan food. We don’t mean food where the meat or fish is simply removed from the plate, but real vegetarian and well spiced food. That is the reason that in our Bar-Albergue, there is always a vegetarian soup available. Moreover, you can eat our famous dutch pancakes and we always have a vegetarian option in our communal dinner at 7 pm. You can even have pancakes for breakfast!
Many of our guests have told us how they enjoyed the family atmosphere at our Albergue, like a home away from home. We aim to be an albergue for unhurried pilgrims who value a good night’s sleep more than an early departure. That’s why we have quiet time from 10 pm to 6.30 am, so you can really sleep until 6.30 am without being disturbed by pilgrims packing their backpacks noisily, shining their headlamps all around. We speak Dutch (of course), Flemish, English, German, French and a bit of Spanish.
